One-Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta

creamy garlic parmesan pasta

One-Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta is a delightful and simple dish that combines the rich flavors of garlic and creamy Parmesan cheese without the fuss of multiple pots and pans. It’s perfect for busy weeknights, student budgets, or anyone seeking a hearty meal that won’t break the bank.

With minimal ingredients and minimal cleanup, this pasta isn’t only economical but also quick to make, giving you more time to relax and enjoy your evening.

This recipe showcases the beauty of cooking pasta together with the sauce in a single pot. The technique not only infuses the pasta with flavor but also allows the starchy cooking water to emulsify with the cheese, creating a luscious sauce.

With just a handful of ingredients, you can achieve a restaurant-quality dish right in your own kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti
  • 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

In a large pot, combine the uncooked pasta, minced garlic, broth, and olive oil. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Cook until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has absorbed, approximately 10-12 minutes.

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley if desired, serving immediately.

For the best results, make sure to continuously stir the pasta while it’s cooking to prevent it from sticking together.

Additionally, adjust the amount of broth depending on your desired consistency; for a creamier sauce, you can add a bit more broth or even a splash of reserved pasta water.

Feel free to customize the recipe, adding vegetables like spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra nutrition and flavor.

Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

creamy basil infused tomato pasta

Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta is a delightful dish that marries the robust flavors of ripe tomatoes with the invigorating notes of fresh basil, all enveloped in a rich and creamy sauce. This recipe is perfect for those looking to whip up a quick dinner without breaking the bank or compromising on flavor. Utilizing simple ingredients that you might already have in your pantry, this meal is as budget-friendly as it’s delicious.

Cooking creamy tomato basil pasta isn’t only easy but also incredibly satisfying, making it an ideal option for both busy weeknights and relaxed weekend dinners. The combination of garlic, tomatoes, and cream creates a luscious sauce that clings beautifully to your favorite pasta, while the fresh basil adds a fragrant burst of flavor, elevating the overall dish. Get ready to impress yourself and others with this delightful creation!

  • 8 oz pasta (any variety)
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.

Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant. Add in the canned tomatoes (with juices) and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Reduce the heat and stir in the cream, letting it simmer for a few more minutes until slightly thickened. Toss in the cooked pasta, fresh basil, and Parmesan cheese, mixing everything together until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of heat or a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.

Additionally, feel free to swap out the pasta for whole grain or gluten-free alternatives to suit your dietary needs. If you want to enhance the meal further, pair it with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete, satisfying dinner on a budget.

Spaghetti Aglio E Olio

garlic and oil pasta

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio is a classic Italian dish that’s as simple as it’s delicious. Originating from Naples, this pasta recipe makes the most of just a few basic ingredients: spaghetti, garlic, olive oil, and chili flakes. With its quick preparation time, it’s perfect for those busy weeknights when you want something tasty without a lot of fuss.

The combination of garlic and olive oil creates an aromatic base that perfectly coats the spaghetti, while the heat from the chili flakes adds a delightful kick.

This dish not only stands out for its incredible flavor but also for its affordability. With minimal ingredients, it’s easy on the wallet without sacrificing taste. Whether you’re a student on a budget or a seasoned cook looking for a quick meal, Spaghetti Aglio e Olio is sure to please.

It’s a dish that invites creativity too; feel free to add fresh herbs or grated cheese for an extra splash of flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 6 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
  • 100ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (chili flakes)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

To prepare Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente.

While the pasta is cooking, in a sauté pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced garlic. Sauté until the garlic is golden but not burnt, then add the red pepper flakes.

Once the pasta is done, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain it and add the spaghetti to the sauté pan. Toss the spaghetti in the oil mixture, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to create a silky sauce.

When cooking Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, timing is key to achieving the perfect garlic flavor without bitterness. Always keep an eye on the garlic as it cooks, stirring frequently to prevent it from burning.

You can customize the heat level by adjusting the amount of chili flakes used. Finally, topping the dish with freshly chopped parsley or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese (if your budget allows) enhances not just the taste but also the visual appeal of this delightful pasta dish.

Vegetable Pasta Primavera

colorful vegetable pasta dish

Vegetable Pasta Primavera is a delightful and colorful dish that celebrates seasonal vegetables and brings a fresh taste to your table. This vibrant dish isn’t only budget-friendly but also easy to prepare, which makes it a great choice for busy weeknights.

With its origins in Italian cuisine, primavera translates to “spring,” reflecting the bright and lively flavors of the vegetables used in the dish. You can easily modify the recipe according to what vegetables are in season or what you have on hand, adding an element of creativity to your cooking.

In addition to being economical, Vegetable Pasta Primavera is a fantastic way to increase your vegetable intake without compromising on taste. The combination of sautéed vegetables tossed with al dente pasta creates a satisfying meal that’s light yet filling.

The addition of olive oil, garlic, and herbs enhances the flavor profile, making it a delightful dish that both kids and adults will enjoy. Serve it as a main course or as a side dish alongside grilled meats for a well-rounded meal.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)
  • 1 cup zucchini, sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Cook the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re tender but still vibrant in color. Once the pasta is done, drain it and add it to the skillet along with the dried oregano and basil. Toss everything together, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot, optionally topped with grated Parmesan cheese.

When preparing Vegetable Pasta Primavera, consider using seasonal vegetables for the best flavor and nutrition. Feel free to experiment with different combinations, such as asparagus, carrots, or peas, based on your preference or what’s available at your market.

A splash of lemon juice or fresh herbs at the end can elevate the dish even further. Additionally, for a protein-packed version, you can add grilled chicken or chickpeas for a heartier meal.

Cheesy Broccoli and Pasta Bake

cheesy pasta with broccoli

Cheesy Broccoli and Pasta Bake is the perfect dish for families looking to have a cozy and filling meal while sticking to a budget. Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces pasta (your choice)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • Olive oil (for greasing)

Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, adding the broccoli during the last 3 minutes of cooking to blanch. Drain the pasta and broccoli, then return them to the pot.

Stir in the milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Next, fold in half of the shredded cheese until everything is well combined and creamy. Transfer mixture into a greased baking dish, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and add breadcrumbs if using.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

When making Cheesy Broccoli and Pasta Bake, feel free to experiment with different seasonings or add-ins to suit your preferences. Cooking the pasta just to al dente is essential for this dish, as it will continue to cook in the oven and prevent it from getting mushy.

Spaghetti Carbonara With a Twist

creative carbonara recipe variation

Spaghetti Carbonara is a classic Italian dish that’s beloved for its creamy texture and savory flavors. What’s great about this dish is that it can be easily customized to fit the season or your pantry staples. For our twist, we’ll add a touch of garlic and some spinach for extra nutrition and flavor, without compromising the rich essence of traditional carbonara.

This Budget-Friendly Spaghetti Carbonara with a Twist isn’t only easy to prepare but also a delightful option for a weeknight dinner that satisfies a hungry crowd. To make this dish even more budget-friendly, consider using seasonal vegetables or leftovers you may have on hand, as they can enhance the dish without breaking the bank.

The dish’s silky sauce, created from eggs and cheese, pairs beautifully with the added ingredients, making it a wholesome meal that doesn’t skimp on taste. So, gather your ingredients and get ready to prepare a comforting plate of spaghetti that will impress your family and friends.

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • 4 ounces pancetta or bacon, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. In a separate pan, sauté the pancetta or bacon over medium heat until crispy. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain and mix the spaghetti into the pan with pancetta. Remove the pan from heat, then swiftly stir in beaten eggs and half of the Parmesan cheese, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve a creamy consistency. Toss in the fresh spinach and season with salt and pepper.

When making this pasta dish, remember not to overcook the eggs, as you want them to create a silky sauce, not scrambled eggs. Mixing the spaghetti with the pancetta off the heat prevents the eggs from cooking too quickly.

Perfect for lunch or a light dinner, this dish combines the heartiness of pasta with the protein of canned tuna, making it an excellent option for those on a budget.

Making tuna pasta salad is incredibly versatile, allowing you to customize it with your favorite ingredients. You can toss in seasonal veggies, switch up the dressing, or even add cheese for a creamier texture. It’s also perfect as a make-ahead dish. Prepare a big batch at the beginning of the week and enjoy it for several days, making it a great time-saver for busy schedules.

  • 8 ounces of pasta (e.g., rotini or penne)
  • 1 can (5 ounces) of tuna, drained
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup of cucumber, diced
  • ½ cup of red onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup of bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup of olives, sliced (optional)
  • ¼ cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or dill, for garnish)

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, then pour the dressing over the pasta salad and toss until well combined. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.

When making tuna pasta salad, feel free to experiment with different ingredients based on what you have on hand or prefer. Adding ingredients like sweet corn, avocado, or even canned beans can enhance the flavor and nutrition of the dish.

Additionally, consider using Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise for a lighter, tangy option. By adapting the recipe to your taste, you can keep mealtime interesting while sticking to your budget.

Pesto Pasta With Spinach

spinach infused pesto pasta

Pesto Pasta with Spinach is a delightful dish that brings together the fresh, vibrant flavors of basil pesto and the nutritious benefits of spinach. This easy-to-make recipe isn’t only budget-friendly but also incredibly versatile.

Whether you’re looking for a quick weeknight dinner or a dish to impress at a gathering, this pasta will surely satisfy your cravings with its rich taste and delightful texture.

Using store-bought pesto cuts down on prep time while still delivering the delicious flavor you’d expect from a freshly made sauce. Additionally, spinach is a wonderful way to incorporate some greens into your meal without overpowering the overall taste.

This dish is perfect for families, students, or anyone looking to whip up a comforting meal that doesn’t break the bank.

  • 8 oz pasta (your choice: spaghetti, penne, etc.)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, washed and chopped
  • 1 cup store-bought basil pesto
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved (optional, for garnish)

Begin by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and return it to the pot.

Stir in the olive oil and the pesto, mixing well to guarantee the pasta is evenly coated. Add the chopped spinach and gently toss; the heat from the pasta will help wilt the spinach.

If the mixture seems too thick, gradually add some reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

For an elevated flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice or zest to brighten the dish. You can also customize the recipe by adding cooked chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables for extra protein and nutrients.

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days; simply reheat gently, adding a splash of water or olive oil to restore moisture. Enjoy your flavorful, budget-friendly meal!

Baked Ziti With Mozzarella

baked ziti topped mozzarella

Baked Ziti with Mozzarella is a comforting and delicious dish that brings the traditional flavors of Italian cuisine right into your home, all while being easy on the wallet. With its simple ingredients and straightforward preparation, Baked Ziti is certain to become a staple in your budget-friendly cooking repertoire. Preparing Baked Ziti isn’t only cost-effective, but it’s also an excellent way to use leftover sauce or cheese that you may have on hand.

The dish is versatile and can easily be customized to suit your taste preferences, whether that’s adding ground meat, vegetables, or doubling up on the cheese. Regardless of your variations, the final product is a hearty and satisfying meal that will please everyone at the table.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional for garnish)

Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and return to the pot. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Combine the cooked ziti with marinara sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese, then fold in the ricotta mixture gently. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.

To avoid a soggy baked ziti, make sure the pasta is cooked al dente, as it will continue to cook while baking. You can also make Baked Ziti ahead of time and refrigerate it before baking; just increase the baking time by a few minutes if cooking from cold.

Feel free to add in your favorite vegetables, like spinach or mushrooms, for extra flavor and nutrition. Experimenting with different cheeses can also elevate your dish, so don’t shy away from adding provolone or feta for a unique twist!
